SUNRA Branding exercise

Carried out as part of a graphic design workshop at DigitalCity, the task was to create a product and it's branding, from the logo,to the packaging, to the website and the ads.
The intention with the brand SUNRA was to sell cool trendy unisex sunglasses made out of recycled oceanic plastic waste. The brand also aims to appeal to the zennials, especially people who are into the latest fashion trends but are also environmentally conscious.
The brand name and the logo were both heavily inspired by Ancient Egypt imagery and mythology. The brand's name is composed of the word Sun and the word Ra, the Sun god of Ancient Egypt. The logo itself is inspired by the winged Sun, a symbol of royalty, power, divinity and the triumph of good associated with several deities of ancient Egypt like Ra.
The wave pattern on the packaging is meant to represent the colours melting from the heat, but also the way the air appaears to be making waves when it gets really hot, for example in the desert. The triangular part of the drawer represents a pyramid, to give a nod to the brand's inspiration.
The brand carries three different designs of sunglasses, that each have a specific name: there's Heatwave, Sunspot and Sandstone. Three words heavily linked to heat, the desert and the Sun.
One of the other important elements of this exercise was the creation of an animated ad that could be displayed on digital out of homes screens, as well as a one page website showcasing the product, the packaging and the brand's identity, history, values and mission.
As part of the exercise, the product had to be advertised in a magazine on a double-page spread format.
